We stayed in bed until 8am, slowly prepared for the day and went out for breakfast. We went to Garden Café, a nice restaurant with an inner garden and with very good food. We ordered a local specialty which consists of eggs, avocados, rice & beans and fruits. It was delicious!
We enjoyed our breakfast and then walked the city. The architecture is different from everything we've seen so far. From the street, most houses and restaurants looks like nothing. But when you can see inside the houses they all have inner courtyard in the middle of their house. Even our hostel was like that!
But the architectural highlight was the Catedral de nuestra señora de la Asunción.
After a few hours of exploration at 30°c, we decided to take advantage of the swimming pool at our hostel. We spent maybe 2 hours there. From 3 to 5pm. Which happened to be Happy Hours at our hostel.
But I'm not sure they get the concept of a Happy Hours… Our drinks were all free! Rhum and fresh fruits mixed with ice. It was really good!
We had a great dinner on a cool pedestrian street, had a gelato and walked for a little while.
There was a festival right by the cathedral with fireworks. What a good way to finish a great first day in Nicaragua!
